Jirra is proud to be a founding Board Member of First Nations Fashion and Design, along with Teagan Cowlishaw and Yatu Widders, under the leadership of Grace Lillian Lee. FNFD is a 100% Aboriginal-led not-for-profit committed to growing the Indigenous fashion ecosystem by creating sustained access to opportunity and skill development through events, on-Country Fashion Schools and industry learnership. The 2020 premiere event Walking in Two Worlds showcased the FNFD ethos; the entire show was created and performed in the Aboriginal Shire of Yarrabah before moving on to Cairns. FNFD pop up shops are wowing customers in major shopping centres around Australia. Jirra is an avid supporter of Indigenous fashion and works with a number of labels to help grow their brand. Indigenous brands play a strong leadership role in the slow fashion movement, advocating for ethical supply chains to protect the rights of global Indigenous communities and developing environmentally sustainable practises that care for Country.
